1 Header Adapters are required if you are
not running a TTI Header to a TTI Exhaust System.
When ordering headers, the
header make and model number
will be required.
Application Note: Header
Adapters by TTI were designed utilizing new
unmodified Hooker, Hedman & Thorley Headers to
mate with TTI exhaust
systems. Precision tooling-fixtures are used
to insure exact replication of each different
adapter.
Should your adapter not fit
your header properly due to a manufacturing
variation in your particular header, it will be
necessary
to modify the adapter to fit
your particular header variation.
If TTI does not have the correct
Header Adapters for your header application or if
you do not know what brand of header is
on your car, you will need to
custom fabricate your own adapters from the headers
to the H-pipe or X-pipe using our Universal
Adapter Kit. Header Adapters and Universal Adapter
Kits are sold
separately.

rear
seat. The Muffler
Hangers that are supplied with all TTI systems,
support the mufflers and bolt directly to these Muffler Hanger
Body Brackets, sold separately.
|
5 TTI Exhaust Systems were designed to use
the Dynomax Super Turbo Mufflers. Using other
mufflers may require modification
to the muffler slips,
(cutting & welding) for proper fit and
alignment due to the muffler case length and width
differences.
Application Note: Using mufflers
longer than TTI systems were designed for will
require shortening the outlet end of the
H-pipe or X-pipe. Using
mufflers shorter than TTI systems were designed for
will require Slip-Connectors for additional length.
Slip-Connectors are sold separately.

17 Warning: First Engine Runs - TTI
strongly suggests that you use an old set of
headers or a set of cast iron manifolds for your
first engine run / cam
break-in. This will insure that you will not
damage the coating and void the warranty of your
new
headers. Header coating
damage usually occurs during the first engine run /
break-in when the exhaust temperatures
exceed 1200ºF. Excess
exhaust temperatures are normally caused by
excessively rich or lean air/fuel mixtures and/or
incorrect ignition timing.
|
18 Lightweight Mini Starters can be changed
without removing the header.
|
19 TTI does not make any headers for the
Early 392 Hemi blocks.
|
20 TTI systems must be installed from the
rear to the front starting with the tailpipes and
working forward towards the engine.
|
21 The 90º Remote Oil Filter Adapter
must be used with a 3/4” hex head mounting
bolt or you can modify a 1-3/16” hex head
bolt

thickness. Instruction sheet #BO306 available for do-it-yourself
modification.
|
22 Some Z-bars may require modification to
clear header.
|
23 On models with Auto Trans & Floor
Shift, the adjustable swivel and the lower rod
attached to the torque shaft lever must be
re-positioned to clear the
header collector. Instruction sheet #SHT3703 available for do-it-yourself
modification.
|
24 If the engine is positioned to far
forward there will be interference with the idler
arm and pitman arm. Clearance can be
achieved by milling
slots in the engine mount brackets and sliding the
engine back. Instruction sheet #SHT704 available for
do-it-yourself modification.
|
25 For adequate spark plug clearance when
using Brodix B1-BS cylinder heads, NGK spark plugs
with 5/8” hex and 3/4” reach
are required. These
spark plugs are 2” long from the base of the
threads to the tip of the plug and will clear the
header tubes.
The header was also designed
using Accel Extreme 9000 with the 90º plug
ends. NGK recommends BKR5E thru BKR7E for
street use and R5671A-7 thru
R5671A-10 for racing.
|
26 If the center bolt hole pattern spread
measures 3-15/16” from center of left bolt
hole to the center of right bolt hole, the TTI
1-5/8” W2
“Step” Header must be used. If
the center bolt hole pattern spread measures
4-3/4” from center of left bolt hole to
the center of right bolt
hole, the TTI 1-7/8” W2 Header must be used.
Either Header may be used if you are using a
dual bolt
pattern head with either
measurements (3-15/16” or 4-3/4”).

39 Factory Engine Location Specifications K-members
are not all identical and the dimensions must be
checked to ensure
proper fit. Check your engine
location prior to installation of your TTI Headers.
TTI Headers were designed to fit with the
engines located to the
factory specifications. If the engine is not
located correctly in the chassis, the headers will
not fit
properly. If necessary,
place shims between the insulator assembly and the
K-frame mounting pad to achieve the proper
dimensions. Shim kits
and engine mounts can be purchased from Schumacher
Creative Services of Seattle, WA (206)364-
7151.

48 Helpful hint to extend the life of your
exhaust system - Exhaust system corrosion will
occur if moisture (condensation) is not
cleared out of the exhaust
system. Make sure the vehicle is driven at
least 20 to 30 minutes when ever the car is started
to
completely dry out all
liquid/acid that is created by the combustion
process in the engine. Failure to do so will
cause
pre-mature rotting of the
exhaust, from the inside out.
