FOOTNOTES
1  Header Adapters are required if you are not running a TTI Header to a TTI Exhaust System. When ordering headers, the
header make and model number will be required.
Application Note:  Header Adapters by TTI were designed utilizing new unmodified Hooker, Hedman & Thorley Headers to
mate with TTI exhaust systems.  Precision tooling-fixtures are used to insure exact replication of each different adapter.
Should your adapter not fit your header properly due to a manufacturing variation in your particular header, it will be necessary
to modify the adapter to fit your particular header variation.
If TTI does not have the correct Header Adapters for your header application or if you do not know what brand of header is
on your car, you will need to custom fabricate your own adapters from the headers to the H-pipe or X-pipe using our Universal
Adapter Kit.  Header Adapters and Universal Adapter Kits are sold separately.
2  Pipe bends vary depending on manifolds. When ordering, the manifold casting numbers off of each manifold will be required to
ensure that you are supplied with the correct bend necessary for your application. For a list of manifold casting numbers that
TTI has exhaust pipes available for, visit our website at:  www.ttiexhaust.com.
3  340/360 manifold casting no. 2863549 will require a 90º Remote Oil Filter Adapter.  Mopar Performance P/N: P5249624.
4  66-70 B-body & 70-74 E-body applications:  If your vehicle is not equipped for a dual exhaust system, you will require Muffler
Hanger Body Brackets to complete your installation.  These brackets are mounted directly to the body panel behind the rear
seat.  The Muffler Hangers that are supplied with all TTI systems, support the mufflers and bolt directly to these Muffler Hanger
Body Brackets, sold separately.
5  TTI Exhaust Systems were designed to use the Dynomax Super Turbo Mufflers. Using other mufflers may require modification
to the muffler slips, (cutting & welding) for proper fit and alignment due to the muffler case length and width differences.
Application Note: Using mufflers longer than TTI systems were designed for will require shortening the outlet end of the
H-pipe or X-pipe.  Using mufflers shorter than TTI systems were designed for will require Slip-Connectors for additional length.
Slip-Connectors are sold separately.
6  71-74 B-body, 70-74 E-body or 65-73 C-body applications:  A modified design Torque Shaft Assembly is required if your
drivers-side stock straight torque shaft rod is mounted below the torsion bar.  The stock straight torque shaft rod passes
directly through the space where the TTI header tubes or exhaust pipes must go.  Torque Shaft Assemblies sold separately.
7  Application will fit with a Gear Vendors Overdrive.
8  70-74 E-body applications equipped with a 4-speed Transmission will require a 70-72 style reverse shifter linkage rod to clear
the 2.5” or 3” H-pipe or X-pipe.  Reverse Shifter Linkage Rods can be purchased from Brewer’s Performance Inc. of Ludlow
Falls, OH. (937) 698-4259  P/N: LR854.

12  Will not clear the quick-ratio extended length pitman arm and idler arm.
13  Adequate plug clearance for angled plugs.
14  If your cylinder head is not listed, TTI will not guarantee fit due to clearance issues, ie. Deck height, port locations, bolt pattern.
15  273-318 A-engines with a 4-speed Standard Trans or the 904 Auto Trans with a 122 Tooth Ring Gear, will require the use of
any listed Lightweight Mini Starter:  Chrysler part no’s: R53005984, 56027702AC.
Mopar Performance part no’s: P5249644AB, P5007860, P4286522.
16  318-340-360 A-engines with a 4-speed Standard Trans or the 727 Auto Trans with a 130 Tooth Ring Gear, will require a
Powermaster XS Torque Adjustable Starter.  Starter available through TTI - P/N: 636A-9543
17  Warning:  First Engine Runs - TTI strongly suggests that you use an old set of headers or a set of cast iron manifolds for your
first engine run / cam break-in.  This will insure that you will not damage the coating and void the warranty of your new
headers.  Header coating damage usually occurs during the first engine run / break-in when the exhaust  temperatures
exceed 1200ºF. Excess exhaust temperatures are normally caused by excessively rich or lean air/fuel mixtures and/or
incorrect ignition timing.
18  Lightweight Mini Starters can be changed without removing the header.
19  TTI does not make any headers for the Early 392 Hemi blocks.
20  TTI systems must be installed from the rear to the front starting with the tailpipes and working forward towards the engine.
21  The 90º Remote Oil Filter Adapter must be used with a 3/4” hex head mounting bolt or you can modify a 1-3/16” hex head bolt
by machining to .175 thickness.  Instruction sheet #BO306 available for do-it-yourself modification.
22  Some Z-bars may require modification to clear header.
23  On models with Auto Trans & Floor Shift, the adjustable swivel and the lower rod attached to the torque shaft lever must be
re-positioned to clear the header collector.  Instruction sheet #SHT3703 available for do-it-yourself modification.
24  If the engine is positioned to far forward there will be interference with the idler arm and pitman arm.  Clearance can be
achieved  by milling slots in the engine mount brackets and sliding the engine back. Instruction sheet #SHT704 available for
do-it-yourself modification.
25  For adequate spark plug clearance when using Brodix B1-BS cylinder heads, NGK spark plugs with 5/8” hex and 3/4” reach
are required.  These spark plugs are 2” long from the base of the threads to the tip of the plug and will clear the header tubes.
The header was also designed using Accel Extreme 9000 with the 90º plug ends.  NGK recommends BKR5E thru BKR7E for
street use and R5671A-7 thru R5671A-10 for racing.
26  If the center bolt hole pattern spread measures 3-15/16” from center of left bolt hole to the center of right bolt hole, the TTI
1-5/8” W2 “Step” Header must be used.  If the center bolt hole pattern spread measures 4-3/4” from center of left bolt hole to
the center of right bolt hole, the TTI 1-7/8” W2 Header must be used.  Either Header may be used if you are using a dual bolt
pattern head with either measurements (3-15/16” or 4-3/4”).
27  When running an 11” (143 tooth) Flywheel, you must use an 8-3/4” long, rotating starter from RobbMc Performance of Carson
City, NV. (775) 885-7411 - part no.: 2005
28  Modification required to the passenger-side bellhousing when running a Lakewood scatter shield / Large stick shift
bellhousing.  A half moon shape notch will need to be ground down, approximately 1/4” deep to clear the header tube.
29  Installation of a dual Exhaust System will require modification to the transmission crossmember.  A Modified Crossmember
is available through TTI - part no: 636A-CM.  Instruction sheet #CMR0506 available for do-it-yourself modification.
30  Installation of a dual TTI Exhaust System will require removal of the passenger-side emergency brake cable guide bracket.
31  Oxygen sensor fittings can be welded in each header collector or exhaust pipes upon request, at an additional cost.  Allow
additional time, as fittings are installed prior to header coating.
32  Mr. Gasket Crankcase Evacuation System Kits can be purchased through TTI - Kit includes two chrome plated push-on
valve cover breathers, breather grommets, check valves and 3-1/2'' long threaded tubes, which TTI will weld into each header
collector.  The unused portion of the kit will be shipped to you with your headers.  Allow additional time, as tubes are welded
in place prior to header coating.
33  To measure your Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT), fittings can be installed into the header tubes, upon request and at an
additional cost, per fitting. (1/8” pipe female fittings with internal thread)
34  TTI’s 1-7/8” 440 Headers will not fit on a 383/400 (Low deck) block and the 1-7/8” 383/400 Headers will not fit on a 440 RB-
engine, due to the 440 (Raised block) being 1/2” taller and a 1/2” wider than the low deck.
35  Headers will clear using a 440 with the large stick shift bellhousing, 11” Flywheel and a High Torque Mini Starter.
Combination will not clear using a 383/400 (Low deck) block.
36  Applications with a 3-section Throttle Rod will require modification to the bellcrank and the pivot shaft. Instruction sheet
#SHT101 available for do-it-yourself modification.
37  Fits with Schumacher engine mounts or equivalent.
38  When running an 11” (143 tooth) Flywheel,  a lightweight Mini Starter must be used.
39  Factory Engine Location Specifications  K-members are not all identical and the dimensions must be checked to ensure
proper fit. Check your engine location prior to installation of your TTI Headers.  TTI Headers were designed to fit with the
engines located to the factory specifications.  If the engine is not located correctly in the chassis, the headers will not fit
properly.  If necessary, place shims between the insulator assembly and the K-frame mounting pad to achieve the proper
dimensions.  Shim kits and engine mounts can be purchased from Schumacher Creative Services of Seattle, WA (206)364-
7151.

48  Helpful hint to extend the life of your exhaust system - Exhaust system corrosion will occur if moisture (condensation) is not
cleared out of the exhaust system.  Make sure the vehicle is driven at least 20 to 30 minutes when ever the car is started to
completely dry out all liquid/acid that is created by the combustion process in the engine.  Failure to do so will cause
pre-mature rotting of the exhaust, from the inside out.
49  C-bodies with 119” and 123” wheelbase.
50  Welding the width adjusting slip-connectors is recommended once the X-pipe has been properly aligned.
51  Application note for A-bodies:  Position of engine is extremely critical.  TTI recommends moving the engine back 3/16” for
additional clearance of stock manual steering box, pitman arm and idler arm.  The three mounting holes in the steering box
can be elongated to allow the steering box to be moved outboard for additional 1/8” clearance of the header tubes.
