HEADER FEATURES

• 1-7/8" O.D. Tubes

• 3.0" Collectors

• 3/8" thick Flanges, laser-cut, contoured for a leak free fit

Under chassis design:  Above the steering center link design offers maximum header to ground clearance

• Full length header design:  Proven power gains vs. shorty header designs

• Recommended Horsepower:  400-600

• Torsion bar removal:  Not required in B & E-body applications

• Header Material:  Constructed of 16 gauge mild steel tubing.  Mandrel bent on sophisticated computer controlled bending machines for precise fit and uninterrupted exhaust flow. The mandrel bending process maintains a constant inside diameter of the tube for a smoother finish with no restriction of flow and no crimping of the tubes.

HEADER FITMENT

• Our headers were designed to fit with the engines located to the factory specifications.  If the engine is not located correctly in the chassis, the headers will not fit properly.  We strongly suggest you check your engine location prior to installation.  (Click here for the factory dimensions)

• Due to various manufacturing designs, aftermarket parts, engine configurations, suspension combinations, etc... TTi cannot ensure headers and exhaust systems to fit all combinations.  However, we have done our best to accommodate both factory and aftermarket component combinations.  In some cases, slight modification or repositioning may be required on your part to clear the specific situation.

1.  PLATFORM:

66-76 B-BODY, 70-74 E-BODY

2.  ENGINES:

440-RB  (413, 426-wedge, 493-572 crate)

• Headers were designed to fit with the engines located to the factory specifications.  If the engine is not located correctly in the chassis, the headers will not fit properly.  We strongly suggest you check your engine location prior to installation.

3.  CYLINDER HEADS:

OEM or EQUIVALENT - FACTORY 915, 906, 452, BULLDOG, EDELBROCK E-STREET, EDELBROCK PERFORMER RPM, INDY-EZ, STAGE 5, TRICK FLOW, 440-SOURCE

Cylinder Head Studs:  Head studs may be used on the Passenger-side, however, on the Drivers-side the header tubes will not clear the cylinder head studs below the #3, #5 and #7 cylinders.  We recommend ARP bolts for clearance in these areas.

4.  SPARK PLUGS:

STRAIGHT or ANGLED

5.  FRONT SUSPENSION:

OEM or EQUIVALENT with torsion bars

COILOVER without torsion bars:  The following coilover systems have been fit-checked with these headers and found there to be no clearance issues...  RMS Alterktion, Magnumforce Tubular, Magnumforce Modular Transformer, Control Freak

• Steering Linkage:  OEM with torsion bars or Rack & Pinion without torsion bars.

• UniSteer Performance Rack and Pinion:  This header will clear without any clearance issues.

6.  ENGINE MOUNTS:

OEM

• Headers fit with Schumacher Creative Services engine mounts or equivalent.

7.  AUTO TRANS:

YES 

• Floor Shift:  Some applications may require the adjustable swivel & the lower rod to be re-positioned to clear the header collector.  See illustration sheet #3703

8.  STANDARD TRANS:

YES

• Flywheel:  Applications with an 11" flywheel, 143-tooth ring gear must use a RobbMc Performance starter #3005.

• Keisler Tremec TKO-500/600 Transmission:  Correct installation is imperative.  The output-end of the tail shaft must be in exactly the same position as the stock transmission output shaft for the headers to fit properly.

9.  FLOOR SHIFT:

YES

• Auto Trans:  Some applications may require the adjustable swivel & the lower rod to be re-positioned to clear the header collector.  See illustration sheet #3703

10.  COLUMN SHIFT:

YES

• 71-74 B-body & 70-74 E-body applications may require a modified Torque Shaft Assembly.  Torque Shaft Assembly sold separately #B7174TSA

11.  PUSH BUTTON:

12.  STEERING:

YES, POWER-STEERING or MANUAL STEERING

• QUICK/FAST RATIO PITMAN & IDLER ARMS:  This header will not clear the pitman & idler arm that is longer than the OEM arms.  Example; The Quick/Fast Ratio Pitman & Idler arms by Firm Feel, Inc. are 3/4" longer then stock.  DIY clearance can be achieved by dimpling the header tube(s), however, doing this modification will void your header and coating warranty.

• Lakewood Bellhousing scatter shield:  Modification is required to the passenger-side bell-housing.  A half moon shaped notch will need to be ground down approximately 1/4" deep to clear the header tube.

    COLUMN SHIFT APPLICATIONS:  B & E-BODY TORQUE SHAFT ASSEMBLY

    Due to various manufacturing designs of the column shift linkage in some 71-74 B-body and 70-74 E-body vehicles, a modified design Torque Shaft Assembly may be required.

    A Torque Shaft Assembly is required if the drivers-side stock straight torque shaft rod is mounted below the torsion bar.  The stock straight torque shaft rod passes directly through the space where the header tubes or exhaust pipe to manifolds, must go.

    This precision bent assembly with laser-cut ends allows you to maintain your column shift linkage, and is a direct bolt-on replacement of your stock torque shaft rod.  [Illustration sheet B7174TSA .pdf]
