HEADER FEATURES

2.0" O.D. Primary Tubes / 2-1/8" Secondary Tubes

3.5" Collectors

3/8" thick Flanges, laser-cut, contoured for a leak free fit

Under chassis design:  Above the steering center link design offers maximum header to ground clearance

Full length header design:  Proven power gains vs. shorty design

Recommended Horsepower:  600+

Torsion bar removal:  Not required in B & E-body applications, however, removal recommended in A-body applications

Header Material:  Constructed of 16 gauge mild steel tubing.  Mandrel bent on sophisticated computer controlled bending machines for precise fit and uninterrupted exhaust flow. The mandrel bending process maintains a constant inside diameter of the tube for a smoother finish with no restriction of flow and no crimping of the tubes.

HEADER FITMENT...

 Due to various manufacturing designs, aftermarket parts, engine configurations, suspension combinations, etc... TTi cannot ensure headers and exhaust systems to fit all combinations.  However, we have done our best to accommodate both factory and aftermarket component combinations.  In some cases, slight modification or repositioning may be required on your part to clear the specific situation.

1.  PLATFORM:

67-76 A-BODY, 62-74 B-BODY and 70-74 E-BODY

  Headers were designed to fit with the engines located to the factory specifications.  If the engine is not located correctly in the chassis, the headers will not fit properly.  We strongly suggest you check your engine location prior to installation. 

2.  ENGINE SIZE / CYLINDER HEAD COMBINATIONS:     (Engine size & Cylinder head must be stated when ordering)

    383-400 B-ENGINES:

Applications using EDELBROCK VICTOR, PROCOMP or STAGE 6 cylinder heads, use header #TTi400SR-218.

Cylinder Head Studs:  Head studs may be used on the Passenger-side, however, on the Drivers-side the header tubes will not clear the cylinder head studs below the #3, #5 and #7 cylinders.  We recommend ARP bolts for clearance in these areas.

Applications using EDELBROCK VICTOR, PROCOMP or STAGE 6 cylinder heads, use header #TTi440-200.

440-RB applications:  These headers clear angled spark plugs only. Cylinder heads with a straight plug design, use header #TTi440-200.

Cylinder Head Studs:  Head studs may be used on the Passenger-side, however, on the Drivers-side the header tubes will not clear the cylinder head studs below the #3, #5 and #7 cylinders.  We recommend ARP bolts for clearance in these areas.

3.  SPARK PLUGS:

383-400 applications:  Headers clear Straight or Angled plugs

440 applications:  Headers clear Angled plugs only.

If using B1BS Sportman, Brodix B1BS or Koffel's Original B1 cylinder heads, we recommended NGK & Accel plug wires for adequate clearance.

  NGK Spark Plugs  - 14mm thread, 19mm (3/4") reach, 5/8" (16mm) hex size.

  Street use:  part # BKR5E,BKR6E, BKR7E

  Race use:  part # R5671A-7, R5671A-8, R5671A-9, R5671A-10

  ACCEL Spark Plug Wires - Extreme 9000 Ceramic Boot with straight or 90 plug ends.

4.  FRONT SUSPENSION:

OEM or EQUIVALENT, with torsion bars / COILOVER, without torsion bars

Headers fit-checked with the following front suspensions and found there to be no issues... RMS, Magnumforce, Control Freak, HDK, Gerst/QA1

Steering Linkage:  OEM with torsion bars or Rack & Pinion without torsion bars.

Steering note applies to 67-76 A-bodies & 62-65 B-bodies Only:  This header will not clear a Quick/Fast Ratio Pitman & Idler arm that is longer than the OEM arms.  Example; The Fast Ratio Pitman & Idler arms by Firm Feel, Inc. are 3/4" longer then stock.  DIY clearance can be achieved by dimpling the header tube(s), however, doing this modification will void your header and coating warranty.

Headers will not clear UniSteer Performance Rack and Pinion.

5.  ENGINE MOUNTS:

OEM, SCHUMACHER or EQUIVALENT

67-76 A-body applications with a stock front suspension, using Edelbrock Victor, Procomp or Stage 6 cylinder heads, will require using a motor plate to locate the engine.

7.  STANDARD TRANS:

YES

Flywheel:  10.5" 130-tooth ring gear & 11" 143-tooth ring gear.

440 applications with an 11" flywheel 143-tooth ring gear must use a RobbMc Performance starter #3005.

Clutch Linkage:  OEM / Some Z-bars may require modification to clear header. TTi does not make a Z-bar for this header to satisfy this situation.

Keisler/Tremec TKO-500/600 Transmissions:  It is imperative that the output-end of the tail shaft is in exactly the same position as the stock transmission output shaft for the headers to fit properly.

6.  AUTO TRANS:

YES

Floor Shift:  Some applications with an auto transmission may require the adjustable swivel & the lower rod to be re-positioned to clear the header collector, see illustration sheet #3703

8.  FLOOR SHIFT:

YES

Auto Trans:  Some applications with an auto transmission may require the adjustable swivel & the lower rod to be re-positioned to clear the header collector, see illustration sheet #3703

9.  COLUMN SHIFT:

NO

DIY alternative:  Modify your shift linkage to achieve clearance. TTi does not make a linkage to satisfy this situation.

10.  PUSH BUTTON:

11.  MANUAL STEERING:

YES

67-76 A-body applications with a Manual Steering box:  Position of the engine is extremely critical.  We recommend moving the engine back 3/16" for additional clearance of the stock manual steering box, pitman arm and idler arm.  The (3) mounting holes in the steering box can be elongated to  allow the steering box to be moved outboard for additional 1/8" clearance of the header tubes.

67-76 A-body & 62-65 B-body applications / Steering:  This header will not clear a Quick/Fast Ratio Pitman & Idler arm that is longer than the OEM arms.  Example; The Fast Ratio Pitman & Idler arms by Firm Feel, Inc. are 3/4" longer then stock.  DIY clearance can be achieved by dimpling the header tube(s), however, doing this modification will void your header and coating warranty.  (This note pertains to 67-76 A-bodies & 62-65 B-bodies only.  Headers will fit 66-76 B-bodies & 70-74 E-body applications with Quick/Fast Ratio arms.)

12. POWER-STEERING:

A-BODY applications with torsion bars:  NO, will not clear power-steering.

B & E-BODY:  YES

      Evacuation tubes and EGT probe fittings can be installed prior to coating headers.  Installation of these options are considered a "Special-Order".  Please allow an additional 3-4 weeks for the special order work and the coating process.
